Faux Wood Concrete Floors
Carpets, pets and children DO NOT mix.....so after several carpet cleanings, I decided to pull out my carpet! I'd rather live for a few weeks with plain old concrete! Well............many, many months later, I decided I couldn't live with the dusty concrete either. But, couldn't afford the expensive hardwood or (cheaper, but still expensive) staining process. So, I researched my flooring options and finally found that people ARE actually painting their concrete floors!! YES!!! But what color???? White floors are beautiful, but not for my family.....keep looking. Voila!!! I found it!!! FAux hardwoods by using a tool from hardware store for wood graining.. CHEAP!!!! and I can do it myself. Great temporary solution.
My husband of course looked at me all crazy and said, "why don't we just start saving a lil money each week til we get enough to put down wood?"
Ummmm, duh!!!! Cause I'm too impatient!!! I want it now!!! So, I snuck off to the hardware store with $60 bucks and bought paint (brownish orange and black concrete paint), brushes and two woodgraining tools. I tried a small hall way at first to see how it turned out. Loved it . And my husband was sorta impressed............
I later bought a concrete sealer with a wet look and applied 3 coatings to give it glossy look.
